Event 3005

Postby Guest on Mon Oct 13, 2003 7:58 am

Hi,
I´ve got this in my application log:
type=error source=evntagnt eventid=3005 20031012, 133934 error positioning to end of log file -- seek to end of log failed. handle specified is 617872. return code from readeventlog is 1500.
Can anyone explain more exactly what this is about?
Thanks,

I too just got this error for the 1st time ever.
source: EvntAgnt
EventID: 3005
"error positioning to the end of log file -- seek to end of log failed. Handle specified is 603880. Return code from ReadEventLog is 1500.

Stumped. Searches on the Internet are far and few between for this.

The Problem can occur if your logfile size is too large

You can go to
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> Event Log
Service -> General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled"
restart the PC,
then delete (or move) the corrupt *.evt file(s)
from %windir%\system32\config then set the Event Log Service
"Startup Type:" back to "Automatic".

Restart for effect.
