Hi,

I am trying to get event reporter to send DHCP logs from a windows 2k3 server box to our syslog server, but I get this error after creating a custom eventlog and pointing to the text files for the dhcp logs.

5564 | 1195583940 | Error | CInfoSourceNTEventReport|ShowEvtLog: Could not Open the EventLog Profile 'DHCP_Mon'. GetLastError = 1500
5564 | 1195583940 | Error | Error Event 1003 logged with data 'DHCP_Mon'.

Am I wrong in assuming that event reporter can send text log files to a syslog server? it appears via the documention that this is possible.

Hi,

EventReporter is an EventLog-Only solution. It can process event log files, but that are the files that were written with Event Viewer or those being created by a number of SAN devices (e.g. NetAp Filer).

However, our MonitorWare Agent solution can process and forward text log files. I suggest you have a quick look at the feature comparison so that you see the difference. In short, MonitorWare Agent can do everything EventReporter can, plus much more.

Please note that there is an upgrade paths available from EventReporter to MonitorWare Agent.
