unable to change table name or log to MSSQL table

Postby chalvorson on Wed Aug 25, 2004 5:43 pm

I have 2 questions.

The first is, when I set up my ODBC connection, it doesn't matter what I type in for a table name on the "General ODBC Options" configuration window, it always creates a table name of SystemEvents. Also, I can successfully create the table this way and connect ot it, but when I send a test message, nothing shows up and I get no error message!

Thanks,
chalvorson

Hello,

Many thanks for contacting Adiscon Support and for using our product.

Q: The first is, when I set up my ODBC connection, it doesn't matter what I type in for a table name on the "General ODBC Options" configuration window, it always creates a table name of SystemEvents.
A: Our MonitorWare Line of Product can only log into the default Tables in Central MonitorWare Database (SystemEvents Table). Because of this reason no matter what you type in as the table name it will come up with SystemEvents Table.

Q: Also, I can successfully create the table this way and connect ot it, but when I send a test message, nothing shows up and I get no error message!
A: Just to make sure. Did you created a System DSN??? Please opt for Windows Authentication while creating the System DSN.

If yes would you please send in you configurations to us by following the step in the following URL:

- How can I send my configuration in a support case?
http://www.winsyslog.com/Common/en/FAQ/ ... -er-ws.php

Please also do the following:

1. Go to General Options -> Enable debug output.
2. Set it to maximum.
3. Let it run for a while.
4. Zip the file and send it to us as we have 1MB limit on our mailbox.
5. Please look into the Windows Event Log and let us know if there is any error or information logged by MonitorWare Agent.

The debug output will help us understand that where the problem resides. Please send you debug output and registry settings to support@adiscon.com. Please use the same subject line as that of this post so that I can differentiate it from others.

If you have further queries don't hesitate to contact us.

Regards,
Tamsila Siddique.
